A theatre design project based on the original screenplay by Billy Wilder, 1950.
An ageing silent film star refuses to accept that her stardom has ended. She hires a young screenwriter to help set up her movie comeback. The screenwriter believes he can manipulate her, but he soon finds out he is wrong. The screenwriters ambivalence about their relationship and her unwillingness to let go leads to a situation of violence, madness, and death.
Aisling reimagined the original film script to be placed in a theatre, where the entire stage, costumes and characters appear as if they are 'in black and white', with the exception of sporadic colour features that portray pivotal moments in the script.
