Pop the question...

Planning a wedding can be stressful, especially when you have lots of questions or even if you don't know where to start. To help, I've compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions I receive from brides before booking with me. If you have a question you don't see an answer to, please don't hesitate to reach out to me for clarity.

  • How much can I expect to pay for my wedding makeup?
Due to the variables in each and every wedding, a bespoke cost quote is required for every bride based on the wedding venue, location you'll be getting ready, time of ceremony, and number of guests requiring makeup. I recommend budgeting anywhere from €450 - €2000 for makeup for a wedding within Ireland with 1-10 guests requiring makeup. It's your special day and, in order to provide a luxury service, I'll make any suggestions that I feel will enhance your experience further. I put careful consideration into every cost quote, which means the quote you receive will be final.
  • What steps are required to book your services?
After submitting an inquiry here, or sending an email to hello@aislingkelly.com, I'll provide you with a cost quote based on your date, location, time of ceremony, and number of guests requiring makeup (including yourself). From there, I'll request a deposit to secure your booking. Your deposit is non-refundable but can be transferred should restrictions affect anything. Please note, a trial is optional and is priced separately. Unfortunately, I can only offer trials to brides who have booked my services for their wedding day.
  • When is the best time to book?
Most brides book their bridal services one year in advance, but I recommend securing your hair & makeup team well in advance to secure their availability.
  • Do you travel?
Yes, I can travel upon request nationwide or abroad, if the budget allows. I will travel to your home, hotel, or wedding venue and your cost quote will include my travel costs and an overnight fee if the location is more than 2 hours' drive from Dublin.
  • What is included in your total cost?
My costs include makeup application including optional application of false lashes, my travel costs to and from your venue, my assistant's fee (if an assistant is required), a makeup touch-up kit for yourself and each guest to take with you, as well as my administrative costs. There are never any hidden or additional costs.
  • Do you have a team?
I work independently but have a team of trusted assistants who can work alongside me if your party exceeds what I can accommodate in the requested time. I usually recommend budgeting for an assistant if your bridal party is larger than 5 or your ceremony time is before 1pm.
  • How long will makeup take?
I allow 1.5 hours for bridal makeup and 1 hour per additional guest. I usually tend to run 10 minutes ahead of schedule, which allows me to clean my space in between makeovers. I will usually arrive 30 minutes ahead of our scheduled start time to set up. I will curate a detailed schedule for your wedding day makeup services once we have established what time all guests need to be ready. This schedule includes detailed time slots for each guest. I usually prefer to do the bride's makeup second-to-last, but this can be altered depending on your needs.
  • What products do you use?
All of the items in my kit are of professional quality and have been carefully selected for their ability to photograph beautifully while still maintaining a natural, fresh finish. To ensure durability throughout the day, all of the products that I use are professional-grade, long-wearing, and water-resistant. Additionally, the majority of brands I use are certified cruelty-free and vegan, where possible. If you have allergies or preferences for products used, I can cater to your needs upon request.
  • Is a makeup trial required?
While I recommend booking a makeup trial, it is not mandatory. However, it does give you an opportunity to preview your bridal look ahead of time. I recommend booking your trial for a maximum of 1-3 months ahead of your wedding date. This way, you will get a much truer representation of how your makeup will look on your wedding day. If you have any skin concerns, seek advice from a skincare professional at least 6 months before your wedding to achieve the best makeup results.
  • Do my bridesmaids/guests need a trial?
Not at all. I will create a look catered to their needs and preferences that fits in seamlessly with the theme of your ceremony.
  • How should I prepare for a makeup trial?
Before your trial, I recommend browsing online to find images of makeup or wedding looks that you feel represent the look you hope to achieve. Instagram and Pinterest are the best places to do this as you can create folders and save looks as you see them. My tip is to look at images where the bride featured has similar colouring/style to you. Be sure to wear white, or the same colour you'll be wearing on your wedding day, to your trial along with your veil or any other accessories that will influence the final look. It's a good idea to wear a hairstyle in a similar style to your desired look for your wedding day, to have a clear idea of how everything will come together.
  • Can you hold my date until I'm sure about booking?
The demand for my services during peak wedding months is very high, and for that reason, I can not hold dates without deposits for any period of time. My availability is offered on a first-come, first-served basis and is only secured upon receipt of a deposit.
  • Do you offer any discounts?
All of my prices are final and non-negotiable.
  • What about COVID?
I am fully vaccinated and continue to double-mask while working to protect myself and your guests. I wear a medical-grade KN95 mask along with a surgical mask from the moment I arrive at your venue until the moment I leave. I also carry face shields for additional protection if required. I am regularly tested for work and have many trusted colleagues that could fill in for me should the worst happen ahead of your wedding day. Thankfully, each and every one of my brides has had a safe and happy wedding day throughout the pandemic.
  • I'm ready to book! How do I receive more information?
Please fill out the contact form here or email hello@aislingkelly.com with your wedding date, location, and number of guests requiring makeup.
  • What are the T&Cs related to booking you?
If you'd like to go ahead with booking me for your wedding, I require a deposit of €200.00 to secure the booking. This would be deducted from the total cost. The deposit is non-refundable but can be transferred to a new date (availability dependant) should restrictions affect anything. The cost is final, includes travel fees, and also includes makeup touchup kits for you and your guests. For any wedding party of more than 5 people, or schedules requiring makeup for more than 4 people to be completed prior to 1pm, my makeup assistant is required and your total cost will include her fee, too. I will always be the makeup artist for the bride(s). The other guests requiring makeup will be divided evenly between me and my assistant, with the bride's approval. For any location more than a 2-hour distance from my home in Dublin, an overnight fee is included in your quote. Please note, if your location or ceremony time changes, or your number of guests increases - the price will be changed accordingly. If, after booking, your number of guests requiring makeup decreases, please note that your total cost will remain as agreed upon booking. A trial is priced separately at €150 and takes place in my home studio in Rathfarnham, Dublin. A trial is totally optional but recommended and suggested to take place within 1-3 months of your wedding date.
